The TouchGraph Google Browser reveals the network of connectivity between websites, as reported by Google’s database of related sites. This tool is only useful if you want to make some research about keywords related to your website and if you have a website that is at least one year old (you won’t get any results for “related:www.yoursite.com” if your website is quite new). This tool is using Google’s “related:” function to display the top websites for certain keyword queries and makes a graph listing the major related websites.

Another interesting application for this tool is that you can see if Google considers your website what it should be:

This online tool maps out interactively all the sites that are related to a website using Google data. This tool can really show you a neighborhood. When you put your website name into this, it will visually display the sites that are related to yours. If you are a website about cats, but all your related sites are about online poker, then you know you have a problem. Your cat website should be interconnected with “cat” neighborhoods, not “real estate”, “viagra”, or other such unrelated things.

If you are running a Web Directory but the tool shows that many of your “related” sites have nothing to do with a Web Directory, than you should consider optimzing it and get some related quality links because Google could penalize you because of unrelated links. Many unrelated websites that Google considers related to yours, are called a “bad neighborhood” which is actually a group of inter-linked websites that are not related to yours or not following the Google webmaster guidelines.

This tool is great to see who is the leader for a certain keyword, but don’t play to much with it…it’s addicting.

Taking a Holistic View

Regular keyword searches approach a document collection with a kind of accountant mentality: a document contains a given word or it doesn't, with no middle ground. We create a result set by looking through each document in turn for certain keywords and phrases, tossing aside any documents that don't contain them, and ordering the rest based on some ranking system. Each document stands alone in judgement before the search algorithm - there is no interdependence of any kind between documents, which are evaluated solely on their contents.

Latent semantic indexing adds an important step to the document indexing process. In addition to recording which keywords a document contains, the method examines the document collection as a whole, to see which other documents contain some of those same words. LSI considers documents that have many words in common to be semantically close, and ones with few words in common to be semantically distant. This simple method correlates surprisingly well with how a human being, looking at content, might classify a document collection. Although the LSI algorithm doesn't understand anything about what the words mean, the patterns it notices can make it seem astonishingly intelligent.

When you search an LSI-indexed database, the search engine looks at similarity values it has calculated for every content word, and returns the documents that it thinks best fit the query. Because two documents may be semantically very close even if they do not share a particular keyword, LSI does not require an exact match to return useful results. Where a plain keyword search will fail if there is no exact match, LSI will often return relevant documents that don't contain the keyword at all.

To use an earlier example, let's say we use LSI to index our collection of mathematical articles. If the words n-dimensional, manifold and topology appear together in enough articles, the search algorithm will notice that the three terms are semantically close. A search for n-dimensional manifolds will therefore return a set of articles containing that phrase (the same result we would get with a regular search), but also articles that contain just the word topology. The search engine understands nothing about mathematics, but examining a sufficient number of documents teaches it that the three terms are related. It then uses that information to provide an expanded set of results with better recall than a plain keyword search.

Ignorance is Bliss

We mentioned the difficulty of teaching a computer to organize data into concepts and demonstrate understanding. One great advantage of LSI is that it is a strictly mathematical approach, with no insight into the meaning of the documents or words it analyzes. This makes it a powerful, generic technique able to index any cohesive document collection in any language. It can be used in conjunction with a regular keyword search, or in place of one, with good results.

Before we discuss the theoretical underpinnings of LSI, it's worth citing a few actual searches from some sample document collections. In each search, a red title or astrisk indicates that the document doesn't contain the search string, while a blue title or astrisk informs the viewer that the search string is present.

In an AP news wire database, a search for Saddam Hussein returns articles on the Gulf War, UN sanctions, the oil embargo, and documents on Iraq that do not contain the Iraqi president's name at all.
Looking for articles about Tiger Woods in the same database brings up many stories about the golfer, followed by articles about major golf tournaments that don't mention his name. Constraining the search to days when no articles were written about Tiger Woods still brings up stories about golf tournaments and well-known players.
In an image database that uses LSI indexing, a search on Normandy invasion shows images of the Bayeux tapestry - the famous tapestry depicting the Norman invasion of England in 1066, the town of Bayeux, followed by photographs of the English invasion of Normandy in 1944.

In all these cases LSI is 'smart' enough to see that Saddam Hussein is somehow closely related to Iraq and the Gulf War, that Tiger Woods plays golf, and that Bayeux has close semantic ties to invasions and England. As we will see in our exposition, all of these apparently intelligent connections are artifacts of word use patterns that already exist in our document collection.

The Complete List of My Make Money Online Sources : 300$ Monthly Income

I have decided to write a brief post about my 5 months progress. After a silent start I came to a point really promising for future. Already earning more than 300$ monthly by the help of several free blogger blogs (totally 11 now) and 3 top domain websites in the topics of gadgets, technology and design.

Here is the list

1) Sponsoredreviews.com
This became my #1 money source after I joined them. Registered all my blogs and sites there and I get at least 5 posts a week totaling in average of 60$ weekly, 240$ monthly. Everyday appear new advertisers and it is not so hard to grab them if you give a considarable fair price.

Actually there are other pay per post sites like Blogsvertise, Smorty , Loudlaunch, ReviewMe , PayPerPost but I am on the approval queue for most of them or didn't get any offers yet from them. I am sure the future will bring more money income after getting blog approvals.
I suggest you to apply for all.

2) Google Adsense
After filtering very low paying advertisers and making more unique content to my blogs I had an increase in earnings. On average daily I get 2$ totalling 60$ in a month. Actually it could be easily doubled if I had more effectively used social networks like reddit, digg and stumbleupon. Especially stumbleupon can bring a big wave of traffic according to my experience.

3) Chitika and Widgetbucks

One of my gadget blogs run Chitika and I am very happy with them. It brings almost 20$ in a month eventhough it is not optimezed at all. After optimizations that I will make this week I expect to earn like adsense.

Widgetbucks is also nice for untargetted traffic because these people will not be aware of it is an advertisement and will likely to click. Their gadget category brings 0.1$ for a click and totally I make around 10$ a month which is not bad at all.

Ads-click.com is a very promising advertisement company and I will especially open blogs just will run their ads. Currently I don't run much but experimentally it brings 5$ a month with very low traffic. High PPC earnings.

4) Thenewsroom, Shareapic , Linkgrand and others

They bring silently 5$ a month and I do not advertise them at all.

5) Textlinkads, Bidvertiser, Auctionads, Linkworth

They didn't work me nicely, but you can consider checking them.

6) cj.com, amazon.com affiliates

I have earned only 60$ in 5 months through selling commissions eventhough much advertised them. It doesn't seem to be very promising.

I will more wildly opening sites and blogs at the same time stabilizing the older ones. If you use forums wisely you will have always traffic and it means money.

Currently I develop applications for facebook for free traffic too

My aim is to earn at least 3000$ monthly using internet in next one year and if work better and wisely I will reach this aim and leave my day time job completely. :)

Sharing pictures online has been a well used feature since the early days of the internet. This can be done easily at blogs, dedicated social platforms, forums or even online photo albums. 1. Pinging to weblogs et al is good but trackbacking to sites is better, when of course your post is in relation to that sites topic. Also legitimate commenting directly on other sites helps expose your site to others. But remember, it must be legitimate comment and not spam!

2. Offer to exchange links on your site under your links section, it lets people know that your interested in linking and will build up your site quickly in Technorati and Google.

3. Link to other small sites without exchange, either through side bar or post: linking to big sites is great in showing what your reading but does nothing to build up your readership because they nearly always never return the favour, indeed a number of them will steal your stories or ideas without any attribution at all. Smaller sites on the other hand are often stoked that you’ve linked to them and will return the favour without asking, even if they don’t, you’ve still done a good deed.

4 submit your blog to ALL the search engines, it might take some time but the spiders will start coming if….

5. The most important feature of all: post regularly and post often. It not only brings readers back regularly but it means the spiders from the search engines will return more frequently indexing your entire site, and you’ll start getting hits from the search engines. Some may argue that these aren’t that valuable but I would argue that’s rubbish. It exposes your site to a new audience for free, and even if only a few return you’ve still built up your readership for free. Take the Blog Herald for example, we get 5,000 views per month just from clickthrus in from Google and another 2,500 from other search engines (Google is the only real game in town though). Even if only 1% return to the site later, that’s 75 new regular readers per month or nearly 1000 per year, and what I also find is that this traffic also responds well to advertising on the site if they’ve stumbled in for the wrong reason.

Many Backlinks For A PageRank?

PageRank works by counting links to your main page as votes. The more of incoming links you have the higher your PageRank is but all incoming links are not worth the same. Google is not stupid and it evaluates links according to their relation to your blog. Simply put, high targeted pr > high untargeted pr > low targeted pr > low untargeted pr. What I want to say is, it’s better to have few links from websites with PR5 than hundreds of links from websites with PR1 that are not related to your domain. Besides all that, higher PageRank means better ranking in Google for certain keywords.

I have always wondered what does it take for a blog to get ranked and how do you know how many backlinks you need for another PageRank and then I found this table which explains it all.

Go to the Links for PR row, choose a PageRank you’d like to get and slide down to see how many backlinks you need from certain PR websites. So if you want a PR5 you will need to get 555 backlinks from PR3 websites or only 1 link from a PR7 website. This is only true if there are no more than 50 outgoing links on that webpage conditioning the website is related to your niche.

Long story short, if you have a soccer related blog and want to get a PR5 don’t buy links from websites about Barbie dolls or heavy metal music or any website that has more than 50 links on their homepage because this is considered a linkfarm and it can decrease your PageRank or even get you banned on Google. It’s absolutely worth to purchase some high quality PR backlinks than strugle for ages spamming websites and blogs.

We always hear that Google has a sophisticated system to detect the invalid clicks, and result in termination of the cheaters' account. But, how can Google do that? In this post, I summarize those ways that Google depends on to detect whether the clicks on your site are invalid or not. Google will not first ban your account immediately. Rather, they will first flag your account and Google will keep a closer eye to your account. In some occasion, they may send you a warning letter to notify your situation; but sometimes not.

1. IP Address
It is the easist and must be recognized by everyone. If those clicks on your ads are originated from the same IP Address as the one used for accessing your AdSense account, your account is flagged.

2. Click Through Rate (CTR)
Normally, Click thru Rate should not excees 10%. Otherwise, Google will flag your account. For your information, normal CTR should ranges from 0.5% - 10%.

3. Physical Location
Google has good tracing software and technology.They can trace traffics origin down to the small town. So, using different computers with different IP address does not secure anything. So, don't try to click your ads in various internet cafes. That will kill you.

4. Cookies
Most home users do not use static IP Address for Internet connection. In most cases just disconnect and reconnect will give you a new IP Address. But don't forget, Google has set cookies on your computer. They can trace these cookies and see whether they originate from the same computer.

5. Click Pattern
- It is also suspicious when people click on their clicks and then run away immediately (hit-and-run). But normally, people will surf for a while inside your pages and then click on the ads they want.
- Why this computer / IP address / person is so trigger-click-happy on this particular website but never click on the ads on other sites?
- And why is it that people accessing these sites direct (type-in URL or from bookmark) tend to be very active ad-clickers compared with those referred from search engine or other sites?

6.Other Google Services
Apart from Google Adsense, Google also provide a series of services to us. Don't just think that it is safe if you do not log in your adsense account and click on your ads. What other Google services do they provide to us? Here are some: Gmail (most poeple are using it), Google Earth, Google Calendar, Google Search, Google Toolbar, Google Talk, Google Sitemap, Google Desktop, Blogger, or even Youtube (coz Google has just recently acquired it).

7.Hardware address
Don't you know that your modem,LAN card and routers has a serial number which act like a fingerprint? These can be used as tracing evidence by Google. Google is very smart!

Flixya.com an article directory has made an agreement with google adsense in which the members who submit the articles, will be paid for the revenue their article generates through the service. Meaning that if you submitted an article, and it made $100 over a week through visitors and adsense, the flixya.com member would be able to keep the revenue. Automated Adsense blogs, does it work?

There has been a growing number of people selling the idea of so called "automated Adsense" blogs. The basic concept behind these is quite simple. What is being sold is pretty much a blog used purely for Adsense purposes. The contents itself is aggregated from various sites depending on topic so indirectly it fools Google, Yahoo and other major search engines into thinking that it is just a blog like the rest of us who writes diligently. The biggest difference is obviously that the content itself is not unique and is usually taken from news resources and displayed into the blog site itself. So what these sellers sell is that the more you buy, the chances of visitors stumbling upon your blog or network of blogs is higher thus providing you a greater return of what we know as Adsense.

Let's hypothetically say that you have stumbled onto a site like this, what would you do? Chances are that you will hit the "X" button a lot faster then anyone else. Like a junk site, the visitor knows that he or she has stumbled into something that's useful or junk. To get a grasp of consistency in any type of ad agency, the golden rule to remember always is the retain your traffic. Instead of showering them with junk which shuns all of them away, think more like how you can provide something that they are looking for exactly?! With these type of blogs, they provide only irrelevant information which almost all visitors will never come back again. So let's say even if you market well on these websites and that you get a lot of traffic, the money would come at most the first day or two and spiral down to the tubes. It's good to have multiple number of blogs, but if you can't maintain them it is probably best to just do what you can like myself of just maintaining one blog. No one wants to visit a blog with no updates, so yes there are no shortcuts around it.

If you want some serious residual income, do it the safe and long way. Yes it can be a pain sometimes and at times very time consuming but it's all worth it once you get to the top of the hill. Best of luck with all of your blog endeavors!

Reddit users prefer pictures and images that present a mix of news, politics, science, and some totally bizarre content that can best be described as offbeat. If you are a fan of iPhone, it is not the place you should be, but urging to inform about a new mathematical formula invention, you are welcomed and appreciated by votes.

They seem to be more sophisticated in, searching for more unique content and escape clicking ads. In my opinion, if someone really gets interested in some advertisement and thinks that it will be useful, he/she should click on it. People do content to earn money. If they don't, they will stop producing alternative content and the media power will always be in the hands of giants and they would impose anything they wanted. New internet generation should bury these Paris Hilton search stuff to the tomb. Tv media is still so powerful that they impose Paris Hilton to minds, and these people come and search for it in internet.

I know that this article doesn't much suit to this blog, but anyway truth is truth and should be declared everywhere available.

After writing about the amount of money I’ve spent to create the Linkrain Web Directory, let’s now talk about the earnings you can make with a only-6-months-old Web Directory. Before I’m going to tell you how much I earn only with the Directory, you should consider some very important keyfacts:

Even if you have a great website, you won’t earn much if you don’t work hard on it.
Linkrain has got a few sponsors, don’t expect that they will come to you and ask if they can become one of your sponsors. You have to promote your advertising space and at the same time find sponsors that have a website related to yours.
The less you work on your websites, the less money you will make
Before you are going to start a Web Directory, consider that the Directory Business is a really hard one (there are thousands of Web Directories out there) and making your Directory “better” than the others is not one of the easiest things to do.
Too many webmasters are interested in PageRank. To make money you will need a good homepage PageRank (at least 5) and also innerpage PageRank

After the first 3 months, I did not make any money with Linkrain because traffic was really low and I had no PageRank yet. After the PageRank update in May, Linkrain jumped from 0 up to 5. Also many categories got a PageRank with the first update, which was the reason my first customers decided to add a link.

Ok, thats enough introduction to the Directory Business for now. Let’s talk about the earnings

600-700$/month from people that add a link to directory (17-18 regular listings and 2-3 featured listings each month)
300$/month from my main page sponsors (other web directories and related sites displayed on the main page of Linkrain)

Total: 900-1000$ each month

These are only the earnings of the Web Directory (blog earnings are not included). To get to this point I spent nearly 2.000$ which I got back within 2 months. Of course I could now stop to invest time, work and money into Linkrain, and earn nearly 1.000$ each month by doing nothing. Earnings would go down each month but I would surely make 5.000-6.000$ within the end of the year. But this is not my objective. Having a blog and a website which is becoming more popular evey day is a lot of fun, the major reason why I started and I’m still running this website.

Regarding the future earnings, I have a very positive prospective:

The directory is not publishing any kind of advertisements yet. Only by displaying one Google Adsense Block in a good position, I could easily average 100$/month. I’m not going to do this anyway (or maybe not yet) because this could reduce the value of the directory and reduce the number of customers.
By getting PageRank 6 with the next update or with a future Google PR update, customers would increase a lot and also my sponsors would pay more to list their service on the main page.
The directory is still using a free template. Once the custom template is up, customers will surely increase.

In my opinion, it is easily possible to create a one-year-old Web Directory which is generating 2.000$ of revenue each month. I will write a new post in 6 months to let you know if I reached this goal

Damaging a Competitor's Ranking is Possible

A June 28th article by Forbes magazine called "The Saboteurs of Search" discusses "negative SEO" which is best described as purposely disrupting competitor rankings. The article has caused waves in the SEO industry as marketers debate the effectiveness of the noted tactics.

From my point of view and experience these tactics are employed and I know there is a serious market for negative SEO because I have personally been asked to offer the service many times in the past. StepForth, however, does not offer negative SEO services with the exception of Google Insulation noted below; which we have previously use to help clients defend themselves against negative publicity appearing in rankings.

What are the Tactics of Negative SEO?
There were several tactics mentioned: Google Bowling, Tattling, Google Insulation, Copyright Takedown Notices, Copied Content, Denial of Service, and Click Fraud.

Google Bowling: XYZ is dropped off the search engines because their competitor framed them for breaking Google's guidelines in an extreme manner. An example would be to create, overnight, a 1000% more links for a competitor (than they already have). The key would be to produce so many links at once that Google's spam trigger would have no choice but to catch it. There are various ways to increase the chances of this happening but I would rather not describe them - after all this is not a tutorial.
Tattling: Is XYZ (the competitor) doing well because they purchased links? If so, and it is something you can prove, then it is entirely within your right to tell Google using their spam report form.

But will this work? It is touch and go whether your complaint will actually do anything in the short term because Google often collects these complaints and then upgrades its algorithm (if possible) to clean out other offenders using the same techniques; a more efficient process. That said, as Matt Cutts said in this video about link buying Google is not above occasionally using manual methods to clean out spam so you might get lucky and see an immediate result.
Google Insulation: Is there negative press in the top 10 about your service? Perhaps you have a competitor that just won't budge out of a top position? In either case a Google Insulation strategy is designed to raise the rankings of other websites that positively discuss your company/services/products in order to oust competitors out of the top 10 rankings. In its raw concept I believe this tactic is ethical because it is smart competitive marketing and a great tactic for reputation management (a hot topic these days).
Copyright Takedown Notices: If a person desperately needed to drop a competitor out of a top position it could engage in a legal action that requires Google to drop the ranking for a period of time based on copyright infringement. The problem here, of course, is that this tactic exposes the perpetrator so that they can be sued by the offended company if the accusation is baseless.
Copied Content: Due to the fallible nature of Google's algorithm it is possible to 'steal' away the traffic to a competitor's particular content (say an article just published) by publishing it on your own site IF your site is more entrenched than the competitor's.

You see if Google is presented with two websites which have the same content it will be forced to choose which site is the original creator. The website with the longer history and/or the highest reputation will often win out and the loser will often find their content ranks lower (if at all).
Denial of Service: This is the most evil and clearly illegal tactic for removing a competitor. Denial of service attacks (DoS) are conducted by sending a large number requests to a competitor's web server at one time. The result is the competitor's server will either be too jammed with requests to function properly or it will simply crash from the burden of so many requests - effectively taking the competitor's website offline. Evil indeed.
Click Fraud: Click fraud is no different than stealing money from a competitor. This is how it works: people maliciously click on ads to purposely eat away at a competitor's ad budget; even on a small scale this can be damaging to a competitor. The most aggressive click fraud is when a network of computers with specially created software is used to maliciously click on a competitor's pay per click advertisements in order to waste their money and destroy their advertising campaign.

Should You Be Worried this is Happening to You?
It is highly unlikely that the negative SEO techniques above have been or ever will be used against you. If, however, it does appear to be happening to you then contact us or another reputable web marketing company. Additional Notes on Click Fraud
The one issue that you could very likely suffer from is click fraud but not in the way you might imagine. You see click fraud appears to happen indiscriminately so just about anyone can have it happen to them; in my experience it is not often a targeted action. As a result, you should be keeping an eye out for it you are actively using pay per click marketing.

So how can you detect click fraud? The best way for me to answer this is to tell you what we use to monitor campaigns and detect click fraud: ClickTracks Professional. ClickTracks Professional is a website analytics program that (among other amazing things) compares the data it collects from visitors on your website with the data you get from your pay per click campaign and does a pretty good job of identifying suspicious click-through behavior.

If ClickTracks Professional determines there is a high probability of click fraud in your campaign you will be presented with a detailed report you can take to your agent at the search engine you are marketing with. If your search engine agent determines there is validity to the evidence it is likely you will get a refund or credit to your account.

Eric Nakagawa, a software developer in Hawaii, posted a single photo of a fat, smiling cat he found on the Internet, with the caption, "I can has cheezburger?" in January, 2007, at a Web site he created. It was supposed to be a joke. Soon after he posted a few more images in the same vein: cute cats with funny captions written in a silly, invented hybrid of Internet shorthand and baby-talk. Then he turned the site into a blog, so that visitors could comment on the postings. What happened after that would have been hard for anyone to predict.

"We just thought, O.K., they're funny,"Nakagawa says. "Suddenly we started getting hits. I was like, where are these coming from?"

An Accidental Entrepreneur

He saw traffic on the blog, I Can Has Cheezburger, which he runs with his partner, "Tofuburger" (she refuses to disclose her real name) double each month: 375,000 hits in March, 750,000 in April, 1.5 million in May. Cheezburger now gets 500,000 page views a day from between 100,000 and 200,000 unique visitors, according to Nakagawa. The cheapest ad costs $500 for a week. The most expensive goes for nearly $4,000. Nakagawa, an accidental entrepreneur who saw his successful business materialize out of the ether, quit his programming job at the end of May: "It made more sense to do this and see how big it could get."

Cheezburger's story is unusual in the upper reaches of the blogosphere in that the time between launching and reaching a critical mass of readers who sustain the site is so compressed. But many of the most popular bloggers have similar tales of starting out with a niche idea—an inside joke, a particular obsession—and watching it explode. Of course, most blogs linger in obscurity and are read by only a handful of people, and few ever reach the level Cheezburger has. What about a blog like Cheezburger lets it break away from the pack?

The initial appeal of the blog may have been a fluke, but its growth since then has been part of a tightly controlled experiment to help answer that question. Nakagawa and his partner constantly tweak the site to see what draws readers and what leaves them cold.

"We basically have a playground where people keep coming to play, so we're trying to create new games all the time,"Nakagawa says.

Building a Community

To drive traffic, they try to time their new posts with when people are most likely to be reading: in the mornings, on their lunch breaks, or in the evenings. Early on, when Nakagawa saw the site getting 1,000 page views a day, he added a widget that allows visitors to rate each post on a scale of one to five cheeseburgers. That helped boost traffic to 2,000.

Readers don't just rate or comment on the posts. They create them. Cheezburger depends on its fans to submit pictures, write funny captions, and send them in. Nakagawa has built a tool to let readers select a ready-made photo or upload their own, add and position captions, choose font styles, and submit a finished product. Any visitor can vote on the submissions, and the most popular ones make it to the main page. The function saves Nakagawa from having to find funny captions for photos, and it creates a lasting bond with readers.

That kind of interaction helps make I Can Has Cheezburger as much a community as a blog. A post by one user will inspire another to play off the theme, forming a narrative. "It's like you're creating a story supplied by people in the community, and then the people in the community supply the next part of the story,"Nakagawa says.

From Inside Joke to Job

The idea of building a community around content supplied by users sustains several top blogs, and most put the idea of community ahead of making money. For Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan, who lampoon celebrity fashion on their blog, Go Fug Yourself, the fact that ad sales on their blog now pay their salaries has not changed what they set out to do from Day One: have fun. "It was one of these inside jokes that we thought was going to just stay an inside joke,"says Cocks.

Part of it has to do with the nature of the medium: Blogging creates a direct connection between authors and readers, a conversation with distinct voices carried out in comments and e-mails and other blogs. Nakagawa wants to see how big that conversation—not to mention his business—can get. "It's kind of like, how far can you take it?" he says.

Its no secret that Google gets most of the traffic on the internet,followed behind by Yahoo and MSN back in third place.So if we're going to beat the next guy at getting some free search engine traffic what is required and where should you start?

Well first of all you have to understand that you may not be likely to rank at the top of most keywords quickly,infact it can take many weeks of hard work to rank for high traffic keywords so the key here is to start with keywords you can target that don't have a lot of competition.This makes your task 80% easier before you even submit a page to the internet.

Next lets look at the individual engines,google takes the longest to rank for out of the top engines so I like to look very closely at MSN search because my experience tells me that even though they dont get anywhere the same amount of traffic I can rank higher and faster here.So my first port of call is to do keyword research specifically with MSN in mind.I use a few things here but by far the quickest way to do this is to use the free keyword reseach tool at digitalpoint.com .Here you can check keyword patterns and traffic patterns for your chosen keywords to see how many searches are undertaken in the major engines,and also to find spin off keywords you probably would'nt have considered previously.You can also check both Overture and Wordtrackers outcome against each other here to get a feel for how the traffic flows are going to be for a top rank with your chosen keyword.

A rule of thumb I use for MSN is that the traffic for any keyword I search in digital points tool is divided by approx 3 to 4 to give me an idea of the traffic in MSN.So if my selected keyword had one thousand searches per day according to both Wordtracker and Overture then I can easily say a number 1 rank in MSN should provide about 300 searches.This doesnt mesn you will get 300 hits ,in fact you may only get about half the searchers hit your site through MSN or any search engines for that matter even if you rank # 1.

So now I can confidently say a number one rank for that keyword will give me approx 150 hits or visitors per day.So now we have chosen a keyword that looks good whats next?

Check out the competitors on MSN.Theres no point selecting words that you really will never rank for .Your competition pays big money to be at the top so unless you have the same budget stay away from that game.Those so called masters of the internet will squash you .My reccommendation is to rank for keywords that have less traffic and thats easier to get to #1,especially in MSN.

So what am I looking for when it comes to my competitors ? well we all know that relevant ,theme related inbound, one way backlinks from authority sites are the easiest way to rank # 1 or at least top 10.

In fact it doesnt take too many high quality inbound backlinks to rank for thousands upon thousands of keywords.So here is where the action begins,After you have uploaded your site and optimised the page with all the relevant html tags etc then gathering links to your page is the single most important task you can undertake to rank.I am not an authority on link gathering but here are a few ideas.

Write high quality articles about your chosen topic or pay someone to write articles ,then submit them to the free article directories,here your article will be uptaken up by other webmasters and put on their site with your backlink on them,This can provide you many many 1 way backlinks very quickly for your page.

Approach other webmasters in your chosen field and ask for link exchange(I personally dont do this as its tedious and outdated and honestly is very time consuming)

Use social bookmark sites like del.ici.us to get your work or content out there and also to get you backlinks from your tags.The search engines love social bookmark sites,I use about 20-25 of them and they always provide good quality 1 way links,and often with very high google PR.

Write a weblog or blog about your site and link to it then feed that blog using rss or other syndication methods.this can also provide 1 way links and fantastic results in the search engines.

Buy backlinks. Yes buy them , a few high quality , related links with good Google Page Rank will help massively.

These few ideas I use every day and many more to get traffic and beat the next guy in the engines, especially MSN.

So there you have it a few small ideas to get you moving so go forth and make more money.

So the only thing left to do after you have achieved a top rank for a number of keyword terms is to make money from them and here are my top few ideas for making money that I use all the time.

1) Google adsense, Sign up free and place the ad code on your webpage and you will earn a share of each and every click visitors make from those ads.

There are dozens of other places you can earn on a "pay per click " basis but Google stands out head and shoulders above the rest in my opinion.

2) Affiliate marketing, If your site or webpage is about weight loss, then sign up free as an affiliate to any one of hundreds of sites that sell these type of products .Then place a link on your page which has your personal code embedded into it and if a person clicks on your link and decides to buy then you will get a share of that sale.Sometimes as high 60-70% of that sale.

Google is going after Content Spam. How can you protect your hard-earned Adsense income?

If you have been making money from Adsense for any length of time you will know the drill;

1)Create as many webpages as you can and get them online
2)Make sure that your pages are keyword rich
3)Work on getting all of the major search engines to index your pages.
4) Some of your visitors click on your Adsense ads.

That’s the good news…but things are about to change! Up until now your hard work has benefitted both you and Google. If there is one thing Google knows, it is that they could be one of those names in a couple years if they aren”t careful.

Google is now looking out for duplicate content and ‘’sandboxing”offending websites. Many are finding that pages which were once producing good positions on Google searches, are now no longer appearing anywhere near the top.

How do you get around this? How can you stop your hard earned income going down the pan? One way is for you to get rid of any articles on your sites that are not original. Perhaps you have used PLR articles and have the same content that many other websites have. You could then start to write totally original articles and put them online. Knowing how to find the best keywords for use in your Adsense ads is not a straightforward process. Finding and implementing high profit, low competition keywords in your ads really is the trick for making Adsense payoff big. The following process should yield profitable, low competition keywords for your Adsense ads. This process is not perfect, but when you analyze it and try it for yourself, you can see that it makes sense. Adsense that is.

Step 1 Research some keywords for your niche that have a high CPC value. To do this, first find your keywords using the Google Adwords keyword tool or another tool that will give you niche specific lists of keywords. Save those keywords into a spreadsheet program as a csv file. Copy and paste those keywords into Google's Traffic Estimator (you will need an Adwords account). The traffic estimator will give you the estimated clicks per day and the average cost per click (CPC) for each keyword. Copy and paste this information back into your spreadsheet file for later reference.

Step 2 Multiply the average CPC by 30% to get an estimate of your maximum earnings per click. The higher the average CPC, the more likely the CPC for the 2nd - 8th positions are high as well. You want this higher average CPC to start because if the CPC starts to drop off significantly after the 3rd position, your chance of getting high click earnings as an Adsense publisher will be diminished.

Step 3 Use any one of many tools available on the internet for helping to estimate the 1st - 8th position CPC values. These tools will estimate the CPCs for each position and allow you to see how much the CPCs drop off after the first position. This dramatically helps your analysis for picking the most profitable keywords. If the CPC values stay close to the each other and to the value of the first position, then you will more than likely have a profitable keyword.

Step 4 Now determine which Adsense ads occupy which positions. You can do this by searching on Google for your keyword and looking to see which Adsense ads are generated in the search results and in which order they are. Another way to estimate this is to use the Adwords Accelerator tool. It has a feature whereby Adwords ads are dynamically displayed for a given keyword you input into the tool to check. If the advertisers you find by doing this closely match those you found in step 4, you will more than likely have a profitable keyword.If the advertisers are not he same, then the advertiser is possibly not using the "Adwords for Content" mode of advertising in his campaigns. This means that the keyword may not be the basis for the Adsense ads and may not be profitable.

Step 6 Now you must get the traffic. If you decide to get traffic using the Adwords approach, then just use the keywords in your Adsense ads that scored well from the above evaluation. Then, use lower cost per click keywords in your Adwords ads. The difference between the earnings from the click you get on your Adsense word from the cost of the click you pay on your Adwords word will be your profit.

KEI is the ratio of the number of searches for a keyword to the number of competing sites having the keyword. I’ve long advised that bloggers seeking to make money from blogging spread their interests across multiple revenue streams so as not to put all their eggs in one basket.

I thought I’d take a look at some of the methods that bloggers are currently using to make money through blogs.

Advertising Programs - Perhaps the most obvious changes in the past few months have been with the addition of a variety of viable advertising options for bloggers. The most common way bloggers seem to earn money online is via the contextual ad program from Google - Adsense. Another two popular ones with many is BlogAds. A more recent addition that many are using successfully are Chitika’s eMiniMalls and CrispAds, Text Link Ads.

Azoogle Ads, Intelli Txt, Peak Click, DoubleClick Tribal Fusion, Adbrite, Clicksor, Industry Brains, Kanoodle, AVN, Pheedo, Adknowledge, YesAdvertising, RevenuePilot TextAds, SearchFeed, Target Point, Bidvertiser, Fastclick Value Click and OneMonkey (to name just some of the options - I’m sure I’ve forgotten some) and there is a smorgasbord of options.

Merchandising - Success with merchandising - quite a few larger blogs are seeing significant sales - especially blogs with a cult following. I’m not at liberty to discuss details - but I know of one largish blog which will see sales over $40,000 in merchandise for the calendar year of 2007.

Consulting and Speaking - While it has been popular for established consultants to add blogs to their businesses we’re also starting to see bloggers with no consulting background able to make money by charging readers for their time in consulting scenarios BECAUSE of the profile that their blogs have built them. Blogging has the ability to establish people as experts on niche topics and we all know the value of being perceived as an expert. I spoke to one blogger last month who charges himself out at over $200 an hour for speaking and consulting work - his area of expertise was something that he knew little about 18 months ago - but through his blog he’s become a leader in his field and a minor celebrity in his industry.
